Penjamo 2001 Summary
After flying to Puerto Vallarta on the west coast, we had some difficulty clearing customs with all of the bags of medicine, but eventually arrived at a small village in the highlands of Mexico. We treated many poor people with chronic conditions of hypertension, stroke, diabetes and arthritis, and also saw many cases of brucellosis and clubfoot, eventually seeing some 2000 general medical patients. As per our policy, we left one year's supply of medication for elderly with diabetes and hypertension, since family support structure had collapsed with the emigration of many young people. Also did many eye exams and gave out eyeglasses.
